Police say a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in Kahului.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Kaahumanu Avenue.
The man was trying to cross the street and was struck by a vehicle. He was taken to Maui Memorial Medical in critical condition where he later died.
Police have closed Kaahumanu Avenue between Kane and Lono Avenue while they investigate the scene.
Maui Fire Department was also on the scene.
