Residents of the Kahalemua Housing Complex in Hoolehua, Molokai were evacuated from the building Saturday afternoon after a propane leak.
According to fire officials, a supply line was ruptured after a resident hit it with a machete while weeding.
Fire crews were able to turn off the gas and secure the area while representatives from the Gas Company repaired the broken line.
Residents were eventually able to return to their building after the area was deemed safe.
