Report: Black Friday shopping up nearly $1 billion compared to 2010

The numbers are in and this past Black Friday was better than last year’s.

According to ShopperTrak buyers across the country spent $11.4 billion at retail stores and malls, up nearly $1-billion from last year – a seven percent jump.

It was the biggest amount ever spent on the day and the biggest year-to-year increase since 2007.

ShopperTrak says early promotions by retailers helped boost sales, but it remains to be seen if the pace will continue through the holiday season.
