A young girl suffered critical injuries during a hike in Mokuleia Monday morning.
Honolulu fire officials say the girl was hiking with a group from Camp Erdman at around 10:30 a.m. when she was struck by a rock.
Officials say the rock hit her head and caused life threatening injuries.
She was airlifted out of the area and taken to the hospital.
Statement from YMCA:
“A YMCA summer camp participant was injured at Camp Erdman while participating in a scheduled activity. We do not have all the details confirmed at this time, nor can we release the participant’s name or age due to confidentiality policies regarding a minor. We are in contact with the family and our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
