County of Kauai officials say a 60-year-old male surfer was attacked by a shark Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened at about 1:20 p.m. at a surf spot known as Pakala’s on the west side of the island.
Officials say the shark was at least 10 feet in length.
The victim, of Kalaheo, was taken to the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle.
The condition of the victim is unknown at this time, but he reportedly sustained injuries to his foot.
At last check, no beach closures were reported.
