Small boat harbors switching workweek schedule

The Department of Land and Natural Resources announced Friday that effective immediately, all Oahu District small boat harbors are transitioning to a Monday to Friday workweek schedule.

These harbors previously worked on a Tuesday to Saturday schedule. The first weekend closure will occur Saturday, October 1, 2011.

"Our harbors on Oahu had previously opened on Saturdays for the convenience of our boaters," said DLNR Chairperson William J. Aila, Jr. "But to ease logistical issues with harbor management, simplify maintenance contract negotiations, etc. we decided to make all the harbor schedules uniform."

The modification in the workweek schedule is being implemented so that all DLNR harbors throughout the state are on the same schedule. All of the other DLNR harbors in the three other districts of Hawaii, Kauai and Maui have always been on the Monday to Friday workweek schedule.
