A car hit a utility pole shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Mid Pac Institute, University Avenue Baptist Pre-school and St. Francis School are closed.
Traffic is being rerouted on University Avenue near Maile Way.
Officials say the pole was on the verge of falling and needed to be replaced.
HECO says they expect the road to be closed until around noon.
About 200 HECO customers are currently without power.
