Special agent charged with murder in connection with deadly shooting

The federal special agent arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at a Waikiki McDonald’s has been charged.

Police charged 27-year-old Christopher Deedy with second-degree murder and use of firearm in commission of a felony Sunday night after he allegedly shot and killed 23 year-old Kollin Elderts early Saturday morning.

Officials say the two got into an altercation inside the McDonald’s on Kuhio Avenue before the shooting.

Deedy works for the U.S. State Department and is from Arlington, Virginia.

Officials say Deedy was off-duty at the time.

The state department won’t say whether Deedy is in town for APEC.

The whole thing was caught on the restaurant’s surveillance cameras, and the footage was given to investigators.

Deedy is currently in police custody unable to post $250,000 bail.
