State asks health insurers for proposals to help reform Medicaid

The state is asking health insurers for proposals to help it reform the Medicaid program.

The state wants healthcare plans to bid on contracts which would improve the Quest program for low-income residents.

The goal is to create a patient-centered program to better manage care and use electronic health records to reduce errors and increase quality.

The winning proposals will be selected later this year, with the changes implemented in the first half of 2012.
