The state is receiving $2.5 million to repair and reopen Kolekole Pass Road in Waianae.
The road was closed to traffic in March after heavy rain eroded the hillside and washed away part of the road.
The money will be used to install a pre-fabricated bridge over the washed out area while engineers work on permanents repairs to the road.
The military road is opened to the public during times of emergency and is considered a vital escape route.
