Suspension lifted for Jane Croson, Chow sticking with QB Schroeder

She’s coming back.

Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Coach, Dave Shoji, is declaring suspended outside hitter Jane Croson eligible this week.

Croson has been serving an indefinite suspension since October 3rd for a violation of team rules.

The sophomore was second on the team with 3-point-8-4 kills per set.

Without Croson, UH has gone 7-and-0 but Shoji still expects the California native to make an impact soon.

One reason Hawaii’s been able to successfully "bridge the Croson-less gap" is Emily Hartong.

Hartong went nuts this past week….averaging almost 7-kills and over 3-digs "per", in wins over long beach state and UC Irvine.

For her efforts, the junior hitter was named the Big West Conference’s player of the week for the third time this season.

Hartong had a career-high 33-kills against the beach and a career-best 16-digs versus the anteaters.

19-and-2 Wahine, still ranked 9th, next host UC Santa Barbara on Thursday.

Chow sticking with QB

Meanwhile, the frustration continues for the UH football team.

Hawaii lost its 5th straight game this past weekend in a 42-27 decision at Colorado State.

Quarterback Sean Schroeder was 19-of-46 passing for 200-yards, a touchdown and 3 interceptions, including a pair of "pick-6′s" in the second half.

And he again took a bit of a beating, getting sacked 4-times and being knocked down many more.

It’s the nature of the beast…when things aren’t going well…many in the public and in the media, question the QB position, and whether a change is necessary.

But as has been his stance all season…Head Coach Norm Chow isn’t considering a move…in the least.

Warriors are still winless in the Mountain West, now 1-and-6 overall.

This week, it’s back on the road against 6-and-3 Fresno State and Quarterback Derek Carr, who ranks 10th in the nation in passing.

Bulldogs already as much as a 34-point favorite in this one.

Kick-off Saturday is set for 1 p.m. Hawaii time and will be broadcast on Oceanic Pay-Per-View.
