Teachers and counselors made themselves at home in front of Washington Place.
They staged a "teach-in" Saturday morning to remind the governor and the rest of us how hard they work, even on weekends and not to take them for granted.
"The public needs to know what we do on our weekends, on holidays, on our unpaid vacations. This is what we are doing. We are working unpaid on all of our papers," said Shirley Yamauchi, Kapolei Middle School teacher.
"There are a lot of things teachers do that are uncompensated for and we are just trying to make people aware of that," said Corey Rosenlee, Campbell High School teacher.
The teachers have been negotiating with the state for several months to iron out a new contract.
