The dream lives on

The life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is celebrated on this day in different ways, in different parts of the country.  In Hawaii, a parade was held in his honor.

Dr. King’s theme was the focus of the parade.

His dream was that all people regardless of their color would be treated equally.

On a bright, beautiful day in Hawaii, it’s hard to imagine a time in America when people, young and old, of all races couldn’t gather together.

But there are those who remember such a time, and have pledged not to forget.

Those marching in this parade were honoring Dr. King’s dream.

This year’s parade wasn’t so much about marching bands and floats.

It was more about people of many different races honoring the man who made such a difference in the peaceful struggle for civil rights.

America‘s history is filled with memorable figures — people who made a difference in all of our lives.

It would be difficult, though, to find one person who made such a significant change in America simply through his words and charismatic stature.

The dream and the march continue.
