Thousands turn out for Pearl Harbor career fair

On Saturday, Pearl Harbor held its annual Apprenticeship Career Fair at HCC.

Thousands showed up to find out about the positions available.

They’re hiring for 100 apprentice slots, 50 engineering jobs and other positions.

Officials say in the next five years about a third of the workers at the shipyard are eligible to retire, so they need workers to fill those slots.

The average starting pay for an apprentice is $19 an hour.

If you missed the job fair, don’t worry, you can still apply online until April 9.

Apply for apprenticeships from March 28 to April 9 (Eastern Daylight Savings Time) at https://www.chart.donhr.navy.mil. Apply for engineering positions at www.usajobs.gov.
