Toyota recalls 7.4 million vehicles for faulty power-window switch

Toyota is announcing another giant recall. This time, it’s 7.43 million vehicles in the U.S., Japan, Europe and elsewhere for a faulty power-window switch.

A faulty power-window switch has Toyota recalling nearly 7.5 million vehicles in the U.S. and worldwide. Toyota says the recall affects more than a dozen models made from 2005 through 2010. The Japanese automaker says the power-window switch on the driver’s side didn’t have grease applied evenly during production, causing friction in the switch and sometimes smoke.

The recall is the largest for Toyota since 2009 and 2010, when a problem with potentially sticky accelerator pedals resulted in recalls of about 10-million vehicles.
