Police have contraflowed part of Kamehameha Highway in the Hauula bound direction near Malaekahana State recreation area because of a utility pole that fell on the roadway.
Officials say around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, a vehicle hit the pole, which caused it to fall.
Paramedics say the driver, a man in his 30′s, was taken to the Queens Medical Center in serious condition.
Heco officials say about 2,500 customers lost their power, but power has since been restored to the majority affected.
Crews are working to remove the pole. The work is expected to continue through most of the afternoon.
