It happened around 9:15 p.m. near the intersection of Hawaii Belt Road and Kalamalani Place in Captain Cook.
According to police, a motorcycle, operated by a 40-year-old Kailua-Kona, man was traveling south on Hawaii Belt Route when he crossed the center line and collided with a pick-up truck that was making a left turn onto Kalamalani Place.
The motorcyclist, identified as Toby Ledward, was transported to Kona Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the pick-up truck, 33-year-old Glennard Sadumiano of Kealakekua, was also taken to the hospital where he later died.
Police believe Ledward was speeding and also believe that alcohol was involved.
Police also say Ledward was not wearing a helmet and Sadumiano was not wearing a seatbelt.
