UH chancellor says he wanted to remove Donovan as AD

UH Manoa Chancellor Tom Apple testified earlier on Tuesday.

He says it was his decision to remove Jim Donovan as athletic director.

My call," said Apple. "I take full responsibility, i did not want to do that. because i didn’t think, quite frankly, i was worried about whether or not our coaches would stay and i just didn’t want to do that."

The chancellor says the school has received about 80 applicants for the AD position.

The university is soliciting private donations to cover the $60,000 needed to hire a national search firm to assist in the recruitment of a new AD.The senate committee will put together a report of their findings and recommendations from the two hearings.

They plan to discuss it at a later meeting.
