UH’s biology dept. will soon have a new home for scientific research

The University of Hawaii’s department of biology will soon have a new home for scientific research.

Ground was broken today on a $15 million dollar renovation project for Edmondson hall.

Improvements will be made to teaching labs and research laboratories.

64 solar water panels will also be installed on the building’s roof.

"We need to match the excellence of our students, faculty and staff in their learning and research environment to what they can accomplish. this will help them accomplish so much more in the future for the people of Hawaii and beyond," says Virginia Hinshaw, UH Manoa Chancellor.

Nearby, Snyder hall, which houses the Department of Microbiology, will become the "Center for Life."
