UPDATE: Hawaii’s Most Wanted: Fernando Soares captured

UPDATE: (March 16, 2013) Fernando Soares, whom we also featured back in January, was arrested on Friday, March 15 in Waikiki.

On Hawaii’s Most Wanted, we feature a man who’s wanted on a warrant.

Honolulu police are looking for Fernando Soares.

"On May 21, 2012 at 7:15pm, the victim and her friend were sitting at the bar at Lulu’s Waikiki, when a male that she didn’t know approached her from behind and stood really close to her chair. She felt uncomfortable but also felt her purse moving. The bartender noticed the male was attempting to take something out of her purse and confronted him," said Sgt. Kim Buffett with Crimestoppers.

Police say Soares took off but came back just before officers arrived, and hit the bartender on the head with a metal sign.

Police arrested Soares for attempted theft, assault, and terroristic threatening.

He’s now wanted on a $20,000 warrant in connection with that case for not following the terms of his supervised release.

Fernando Soares is 29 years old, 6 foot 2 and 200 pounds.

"He’s known to frequent the Waikiki area and he doesn’t have any priors," said Sgt. Buffett.

If you know where Fernando Soares is, call Crimestoppers at 955-8300.
