UPDATE: Power restored to customers in Kalihi-Alewa area

Hawaiian Electric Company crews have restored power to all 1,200 customers in the Kalihi-Alewa area after low hanging wires were reported on the road.

A HECO spokesperson says the low hanging wires were caused by strong winds in the area.

Honolulu Police closed the 1500 block of Alewa Drive while crews worked to fix the problem.

The area has since been reopened.
