UPDATE: Speed, alcohol factors in Maui crash

Maui police say speed and alcohol are factors in a crash that killed a woman in Hana.

The 57-year-old woman was a passenger in a jeep driven by a 39-year-old man.

The Jeep was on Hana Highway when it went off the side of the road and flipped over. 

Police say the woman was not wearing her seat belt and was thrown from the jeep.

She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The man was arrested on suspicion of negligent homicide but was released.

The woman’s name has not been released.
