Vacation rental exemptions move to Maui planning commissions

Maui County’s Lanai, Maui and Molokai Planning Commissions will now consider whether to allow owners of 4,519 short-term vacation rental units to apply for exemptions to a new county law requiring 6,208 vacation rentals in West and South Maui to convert to long-term housing for local residents.
