Valve repair work on Alakawa Street

Board of Water Supply crews will be performing emergency valve repair work Thursday at 500 Alakawa Street beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The valve is located at the mauka-bound lanes on Alakawa Street between the Home Depot and Costco entrance driveways. This repair will force the closure of both mauka-bound lanes between these driveways. The closure will not impede direct access to either driveway.

The makai-bound lanes will be contraflowed to allow one lane of traffic flow in each direction. This traffic pattern is expected to remain in effect for the duration of the repair, which is expected to continue through the afternoon. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes where possible. Special duty police officers, sign boards and traffic cones will alert motorists of these closures.

Approximately 20 businesses at 500 Alakawa Street are without water at this time. A water wagon will be positioned in the area for the affected customers.
