Volunteers help clean forgotten cemetary

Over the years, the Pioneer Memorial graveyard in Ewa Beach has become virtually unrecognizable.

On Sunday, a handful of volunteers aimed to bring the cemetery back to its former glory.

Dried-up grass and weeds cover up many of the graves, some dating back to the 1800′s.

For the last 13 years, Kebull Pantohan has been volunteering his time to help clear the cemetery.

On Sunday, he got some much needed help from the Ewa Beach Lions Club.

"Now it look like a regular cemetary now you can see ‘em," Pantohan said. "I thank them so much for helping me, I can’t do it myself, you know I not getting any younger anymore."

Pantahon says he does it because has family is buried here and he wants to help out.

Volunteers hope Pioneer Memorial will be ready by Memorial Day.
