A Waianae man died today after being restrained by Honolulu Police officers.
Police say it happened around 4:30 Monday morning in Waianae when they responded to a 911 call for assistance.
When they arrived, the say a 37 year-old man appeared to be mentally unstable and possibly under the influence of drugs.
Police say they restrained the man so he would not hurt himself or others and that’s when the man became unresponsive.
the man was taken to the hospital where he later died.
