Charles Donaldson and Donaldson Enterprises, the company indicted over allegations of mishandling of seized fireworks that led to a deadly explosion in a bunker last year, has plead not guilty to the charges.
Donaldson and two company executives are accused of treating hazardous waste without a permit.
The company’s attorney says there was nothing criminal about the blast that killed five employees.
"Obviously the explosion that took place at the bunker 18 months ago and the resulting deaths were terrible tragic and horrible at the same time it was just an accident," said Tommy Otake, Donaldson Enterprises Attorney. "It’s our position that the indictment is based on a misapplication of law and also a misunderstanding of fact."
