"Actually i’m a little excited about it and our vacation planning at a good time where we’re actually here and the convention is going on," says Krista Spivey, visiting from Chicago.
Eric and Krista spivey flew in from Chicago.
They were notified by email about APEC after they booked their trip, and they’re not complaining.
"Most of the information we’ve received has been from the parent companies letting us know of the convention being in town over the weekend the heightened security and things of that nature," says Eric Spivey, visiting from Chicago.
Ed and Vickie from Utah say their friends on the North shore told them about APEC.
They’re both thankful they’ll be leaving before the conference begins.
"We’re kinda glad because we know the airports the coming and goings are really going to be hectic that always brings additional challenges for travelling," says Ed Austin, visiting from Utah.
Although, they’re not staying in waikiki–they’re happy to be enjoying it now instead of during APEC.
"It’s always fun be near the action as far as being in the middle of it I think we’re okay with not with missing it just a little bit," says Austin.
Visiting from Michigan, beth wills was told about APEC when she got off the plane.
She’s happy she planned to spend most of her vacation on Molokai.
"I was kinda surprised because they said the President was coming and I was surprised about that and I was actually happy that we were going to a quieter island just because I’m trying to get away from crowds and stress," says Beth Wills, visiting from Michigan.
A frequent visitor to the islands, Chicago resident Patti Pope had no idea Hawaii was hosting APEC.
"I guess it was exciting but still it didn’t affect our trip at all so I’m kinda glad that we are leaving but our hotel has notices up informing all of the guests," says Patti Pope, visiting from Chicago.
"As a tourist I’m glad I’m out of here (laughs)," says Pope.
