Warning signs posted as Portuguese Man o’ War wash ashore

Ocean Safety officials have posted warning signs in the Ala Moana and Waikiki Beach areas after an influx of Portuguese Man o’ War washed ashore Monday morning.

Ocean Safety officials did not have an exact count of how many Man o’ War were found, but did say as of about 9:30 a.m., two stings had been reported in Waikiki.

Man o’ War can cause painful stings similar to jellyfish, but their blue color makes them hard to spot in the water.
