Fire investigators say heat from a welding torch accidentally caused two homes to catch fire in Aliamanu Wednesday.
Officials say a resident was in a covered patio behind one of the homes that was used as a workshop and was welding the frame of a moped.
They say heat ignited the moped’s seat. The fire spread throughout the home and to the home next door. Fortunately no one was injured but a cat was killed in the fire. Damage to the homes were estimated at $510,000.
