Wind advisory in effect for all islands

The National Weather Service has issued a statewide wind advisory which is in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday.

According to the NWS, strong high pressure north of the state will lead to strong and gusty trade winds through the day. The high will steadily weaken, allowing winds to diminish overnight.

Winds are expected to be coming from the east at up to 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour. The strongest gusts will be across the leeward sections of the islands..

Forecasters warn winds this strong can bring down tree branches and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
