For some years now, Microsoft has held fast to Oct. 14, 2025, as the date when Windows 10 will go “end of life,” referred to as EOL. What it means is that updates, fixes or patches for security issues won’t be forthcoming, at least not for free. Microsoft had previously announced that such updates would be available for a cost. Just a couple of weeks ago, they announced that updates could be had at no monetary cost, but of course with a catch.
