HONOLULU (AP) – More than 6,000 medical professionals from around the world are gathering in Honolulu for a convention.
The American College of Chest Physicians 77th-annual meetingb starts Saturday at the Hawaii Convention Center. It’s the convention center’s fourth-largest meeting of the year, which tourism officials expect will bring more than $28 million in state revenue.
The convention also has a philanthropic component. Medical professionals will educate students at Honolulu’s Sacred Heart Academy about tobacco prevention. And the school will receive a $10,000 donation to support educational health prevention efforts.
Organizers say convention participants represent 78 countries who will discuss topics such as global issues in respiratory medicine.
