Main break disrupts business in Kalihi

Water has finally been restored to more than two dozen homes and businesses in Kalihi.

It’s been two days since the water main on North School Street broke and Saturday afternoon, crews finished repairing it.

Officials say the main was installed in 1927 and is located near other utilities, that’s why it took longer than usual to fix.

Dr. Jason Hiramoto’s office was one of the businesses affected. He had to cancel his appointments.

"They’re trying their best and they’re working on the pipe and so several attempts and so the water is going on and off so it makes it very difficult," Hiramoto said.

Crews are still fixing the road, so two Ewa-bound lanes on North School Street between Kamehameha IV Road and Ahonui Street are still closed.
