A 69-year old Big Island woman, who was brutally attacked in her home Friday night, remains in the hospital in stable condition.
On Sunday night, the 18-year old suspect was charged.
Police say Seferin Tilipau forced his way into Mary Davy’s home in the Paradise Park subdivision in Puna.
Mary’s daughter Suzanne had been on the phone with her mom at the time.
"I heard a big crashing sound, and then I heard her scream, ‘Get out, get out, get out’," Suzanne says. "Her story is that he came in with gardening shears from downstairs rummaged and found gardening shears, and he came in and she’s like take my wallet, take my money it’s right there take and and leave, and he came after her, and she tried to push him out the door and he proceeded in…and he had her neck or head in his hands, and she felt like he was going to break her neck, and the cop cars came in and he stopped and he split."
Suzanne says she called 911 and had given police directions to her mom’s house apparently in the nick of time.
Tilipau was caught in a house nearby. Police believe he and victim are neighbors.
Tilipau has been charged with attempted murder, burglary and assault.
He’s being held without bail and is scheduled to be in court Monday afternoon.
