As broad-stroke detaining of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. have increased, Americans have inversely soured on the dubious tactics, and rightly so. Yes, most citizens can agree that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency should take action to deport dangerous criminals, hardened felons and repeat offenders in our midst — but recent quota dragnets are escalating too clumsily and indiscriminately into immigrant communities. Further, the ICE crackdowns are increasingly tapping resources from the U.S. military and civilian prisons system — a dangerous mission-creep muddling.
