The recent earthquake in Russia caused all of us in Hawaii to anticipate the worst but hope for the best, as we anxiously awaited the tsunami’s arrival to our shores, starting with my hometown near Hilo. It was a harrowing experience. We nervously received the news that the tsunami watch had rapidly escalated to a full-blown tsunami warning in just a few hours.
