There’s no way to paint this year’s federal axing of tax credits and other incentives for electric vehicles (EVs) as good news for Hawaii’s consumers or the state’s economy — much less our island environment. Our expensive, economically and environmentally fragile island state is disproportionately vulnerable to hits on each of these levels, and the Trump administration’s pro-oil, pro-pollution policy shift inflicts damage on all counts.
