Column: Laser focus on Hawaii energy security

Hawaii’s path to a clean energy future must rest on one guiding principle: energy security. True security means each island generating, storing and managing its own electricity from local resources — freeing us from the volatile global oil market and the heavy carbon pollution it brings. The question is no longer whether this is technically possible. It is. The challenge is whether our leaders will commit to proven, homegrown solutions instead of chasing distractions.
