Letter: Makakilo emergency escape route needed

I read with interest the Star-Advertiser’s short article with pictures about how residents of the Waianae area could escape their area during emergencies through the Kolekole Pass (“Emergency preparedness,” March 4). I thought this is wonderful. Then I thought what about the folks in Makakilo (totaling 20,862 people) who only have one road out from their area down Makakilo Drive to Kapolei. No one is providing the thousands of families there with an easy access to escape an emergency.
