Kokua Line: Is audit letter about home exemption legit?

Question: I received a letter in the mail to provide continuing qualification documentation to verify that I’m still allowed to receive my current home exemption. The letter says it’s from the Real Property Assessment Division for BFS. It is requesting sensitive material like my 2024 State return and 2024 Federal return. It is also asking me to provide documentation for utilities that are paid through my monthly maintenance fee, so I have no separate bills for that. The letter also gives no guidance on where to submit the documentation. No link to a City service page, or where to email it to. … Due date is May 18, 2026. Is this a legit request?
