The one thing that stands out above all else about Gov. George Ariyoshi’s tenure was his greeting of deposed Filipino strongman Ferdinand Marcos at Hickman Air Force Base, as if he was a beloved hero. Marcos and his wife were criminals who brutally plundered the Philippine Islands. This dictator ruled with an iron hand, stealing millions of dollars intended for the Filipino people. Many were imprisoned without due process, having committed no crime at all. Many died there as well.
