The state Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity (DAB) has been tasked with work vital to a sustainable future for Hawaii: Supporting successful growth of agricultural endeavors, from farm to retail; encouraging Hawaii’s transition to producing more of its local food supply within the islands; and with its “biosecurity” branch, preventing additional overrun of the islands by invasive species. These destructive pests threaten island agriculture, endemic and endangered species, ecosystems and ultimately, our entire way of life.
