Letter: Trump trip to China is unnecessary escapade

What a waste of taxpayers’ money (“China’s Xi hails trade progress, sends Taiwan warning,” Star-Advertiser, May 13). Imagine what would happen if the public had to send money to an account anytime the federal government wanted to spend it. OK, withdraw $200 of my money so that Donald Trump can go to China and talk to Xi Jinping about trade, Iran and the world economy. They wouldn’t be able to go anywhere anytime soon — we couldn’t afford it!
