Ryan Yamane, a state representative from 2004 to 2023 and director of the Department of Human Services since 2024, abruptly “retired” on Tuesday — at Gov. Josh Green’s request, the Star-Advertiser reports — after being questioned in connection with the Hawaii attorney general’s public corruption investigation.
