Letter: College students should get jobs to negate debt

As a biased alumnus, I continue to believe that a degree from the University of Hawaii is a worthwhile investment. These days, there is so much discussion about the problem of student loan debt. However, I rarely, if ever, see mention of going to work first to earn and save for college tuition. Why is that?
