Letter: Mayor should select HPD chief after 3 failures

Regarding the new HPD chief, in recent memory the Honolulu Police Commission has selected Louis Kealoha, Susan Ballard and Arthur “Joe” Logan, while — sometimes repeatedly — rejecting Mike Lambert, Ben Moszkowicz and Rade Vanic. The selectees share the common attribute of ultimately failing in the job, while the rejects share the not-so-common attribute of succeeding when they served as head of a local police or law enforcement department.
