Letter: City must steer clear of Queen Theater purchase

This is a plea to the City Council to forget buying the Queen Theater. Growing up in Honolulu, I went to movies at the Pawaa, Princess, Varsity, Waikiki, Palace and Kuhio theaters. When they closed, the city and state didn’t buy them. Why should the city buy the Queen Theater? It will be a money pit for renovations. Let a private developer have it and use our taxes for repairs to our parks and roads all over the island — more important than one building in Kaimuki.
