Letter: Bill does little to protect animals, but public can

The “Save Our Bacon” Act asks us to pretend that giving an animal a few extra inches of space somehow turns cruelty into compassion. It doesn’t. It just makes the suffering easier for us to ignore — suffering we’d never accept if we had to see it up close.
