Biki, Honolulu’s bikeshare program, looks to be near the bottom of a disappointing slide in maintenance and customer service; its operation, and apparatus, are a mess. That’s sad, since the cheery, pollution-free blue bikes that started appearing on Honolulu streets in 2017 were a hit, pre-pandemic. But Biki never bounced back from COVID-19 shutdowns in 2020 and beyond. It passed into the city’s hands in 2024. Then things got worse.
